What’s Biting This Week Off Palm Beach – Mid-September Report

September 17, 2025

If you’ve been thinking about booking a fishing trip in Palm Beach, this week is looking excellent both offshore and inshore. With warm Gulf Stream waters, moderate tides, and baitfish moving through, the action has been heating up. Here’s your mid-September fishing update from Mallard Sport Fishing at Sailfish Marina.

Ocean Conditions

Water Temperature: Still warm in the mid-80s°F, keeping pelagics active.
Tides: Moderate swings this week — look for good current flow in the early morning and late afternoon.
Weather: Light to moderate winds with calm mornings; keep an eye on afternoon showers. Best bet is to run early and beat the chop.

Offshore Action

Wahoo: The bite is hot right now, especially along the 100–300 ft edges. Early morning and late afternoon trolling with high-speed lures or rigged ballyhoo are producing strikes.

Kingfish: Scattered schools are working the 120’ ledge. Afternoons seem best with live sardines or blue runners.

Snapper: Mutton, mangrove, and lane snapper are showing up strong on reefs and wrecks in 80–90 ft. Dropping live bait in the late afternoon has been productive.

Inshore & Nearshore

Snook: The mullet run is kicking in, and snook are staging around inlets, bridges, and seawalls. Early morning and nighttime bites are best. Live croakers, pilchards, or sand perch are top baits.

Mangrove Snapper: Steady action in the late afternoons around structure — a fun option if you’re looking for dinner fish.

Pro Tips for This Week

  • Fish early mornings or late afternoons for the best bite.
  • Bring live bait if possible — it’s out-producing artificials right now.
  • Target tidal changes to get the most current flow.
  • Keep an eye on afternoon storms and plan accordingly.
